Sunny day on sunday

Day 5 here in England or rather Rutland

After this exhausting day yesterday I did not really have any time to recover and got up at half past seven to get ready for the journey to Rutland. It was nearly one hour away and I drove there with J.'s son, wife and their two kids. We got there and had breakfast there. It was called a bacon roll and it was really different from our German breakfast, but one need to try it out! Their kids got off the shore and we had 5(!) hours free-time, so to say. We talked a lot the German school system in contrast to the Scottish one and after many other things. We had several coffees and teas and waited for J. to arrive. I also met many other Scottish people. They were all very kind and friendly but their dialect was very striking as well. J. arrived and we had lunch in the restaurant which was beside the terrace. The sun was shining and we had a good time together. After many hours of waiting the kids got back from the sea and they were really worn out. J. and me got back home and N. and H. got back to Scotland. Their tour would be lasting for 10 hours. I can't imagine that but it is really admirable what they do for their kids sake!
Today I have got only one photo but it is a really nice one.
We went back home and I had finally some time for me. I really needeed this quality time! After a couple of hours we had dinner and now we could finally relax!
Good night to all of you.

YORK

A cold but great day in Northern England I once read in my UK travel guide that if you only have the chance to explore one city in the North of England, you should definitely spend one day in York. The city is not only surrounded by a wall but also by two rivers. These are the river Ouse and the river Foss which confluence in York. Because the city has been existing throughout two millenia it has so much to offer. Only one example is York Minister which is the cathedral of the city. York Minister is one of the largest cathedrals in Northern Europe and the Archbishop of York has his seat there. By the way, the title "minister" derives from churches which were established in the Anglo-Saxon period as missionary teaching churches.  We did not go inside (you have to pay a lot to get inside) but we took a look at the cathedral from outside and it really looked stunning. Somehow it reminded me of the Cathedral of Cologne, although...

Manchester, Liverpool and Lyme Park

Dear all, The new year has just started and I must admit I really needed the time off. It felt so good to be back home and I really enjoyed being far away from school and my job. Although I love working with the kids it is sometimes really hard to be so far away from your boyfriend, your family, your friends and your whole life at home. But nevermind. I will tell you about my last trip. So, just before the christmas holidays started I did another trip with my French friend M. Straight afterwards, I did not have time to wrote a travel summary so here it finally is: On our last weekend we took an early train from Lincolnshire to Manchester and stayed the whole weekend in a hostel which was called "Hatters". I must say I cannot really recommend it although it was a recommendation in my travel guide. Although its location was really central, the hostel was very old and run down. But nevertheless, the enjoyed our trip. On Friday we arrived at noon and had lunch in a nice pu...

weekend trip to London

Hi everyone! I thought it would be nice to keep you all updated. While this weekend is more relaxed last weekend was busy and very exciting for me and two of my German friends, who came over to England to spend a weekend with me. We met on Friday in the evening and my train arrived in London at 1 o'clock. Therefore, I had time to check in into our hostel and to fresh up. Afterwards, I went to the Museum of London , which is an interactive Musuem which is close to St. Paul's Cathedral. The musuem is relatively new and it was really good. When I arrived they asked me if I would like to join a guided tour through the musuem which was called "Roman London". I thought "Why not?" and joined the tour. It was really interesting and the female tour guide told London's history in a very entertaining manner. I went outside afterwards and because I had a little more time I went into Topshop and lucky as I am I found a nice skirt and a pretty top. I just love T...
