Daytrip to the best city in the whole wide world-LONDON

London-my favourite city

London (view from the Waterloobridge)

Tate Britain-Hall

We went off to London at 9o'clock in the morning. We were from Ashtead to London in about 30 minutes. What a pleasure! We met Jeanette in Vauxhall and went straight to the Tate Britain. They both know a lot about British art and they presented me two famous artists. 1. William Turner and 2. Henry Moore. Moore is famous for his massive sculptures and William Turner painted big, bright landscapes. I liked the "Beach" paintings from Turner the most! He had a very good sense for drawing the sky with its various shades of light. We drove by boat to "Embankment" and there we went into the Southwark Cathedral. The Cathedral involved many different pieces of art and also different kind of alters. I liked it a lot. The churches are more open for exhibitions here.
We enjoyed the sun outside in a café. We had chosen the best day to travel to London! It was 20 degree and the sun was shining while we went through the city. From the Southwark Cathedral we headed to Covent Garden Market. Some parts of Covent Garden Market are outside and others are inside. Many people were there and inside trades sold handmade arts and crafts.
Inside Covent Garden Market

Outside we watched an artist who made tricks with a big ball. He was very funny!! Inside the market music students played on their violins. They were very professional and it seemed to me that they earned a lot of money. I bought some beautiful cards and a silver braclet which I wear now every day. At the end of this great day we went over the Waterloo bridge to "WildWood" an Italian restaurant in the middle of the street. While we were on the Waterloo bridge I was able to make some photographs. The view was absolutly amazing!
We enjoyed our dinner and sat there for a many hours. Afterwards we went home and it was getting dark as we arrived. I was two times in London but this day was different from the other visits.
All in all it was a beautiful day and it was very nice to be in an insiders company in a huge city like London.

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
