First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new

My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions.
My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive!
But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own.
I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth.
She cooked me a perfect meal with a dessert and we talked for a while. After that she invited her neighbours and we played "Scrabble". It was really difficult for me to find some good word(which bring us good points) but we managed it and won!!
A long day went to its end.. "Good night, sleep well".

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Chatsworth and Yorkshire

Hi happy people! Another week went over and my weekend was filled with nice activities. I am really happy that I have every Friday off. That gives me and the other assistants the opportunity to plan nice day trips. Our last day trip is just over and we went to Chatsworth ! Marie, the French assistant has fairly the same interests as I have. This term we both wanted to visit Chatsworth in Derbyshire . She has already been to Chatsworth but I always wanted to go. When I stayed with J she always said she does not bother to go there again because she takes all her guests to Chatsworth and she was kind of fed up with paying the expensive entrance fee to get inside the house. But I know Chatsworth from various movies and it is the stately house where Pride and Prejudice or some scenes of "The Dutchess" were shot so it is really famous here in England. Every year they have a special Christmas decoration and this year the theme was Charles Dickens. He himself has be...

South England and my last week

My last week in England- spending time in the South   Time went so quickly! I left East Leake after nearly four months on Sunday. It was very sad but all the people said I should come back soon and that I am always welcome. Pam and Paul gave me a card and J invited all friends for a leaving-do lunch. I was a little bit sad but I'm sure I want to come back to visit them and J wants to come around christmas to Germany so we'll meet them as well. I travelled by megabus to London. It took 2:40 hours but it was an easy and comfy journey. My parents waited paitently and it was so great to see them again! We enjoyed our evening and went for a meal and drinks in Maxwell's. That's a restaurant/bar in the middle of London. I showed my parents Covent Garden by night and we listend to a singer on the street. We went to bed late and it was all in all a stirring and very exiting day! Covent Garden market On the next day we went to the city centre to see Covent G...
