Second whole Day

First whole day here

My second day here started with a typical english breakfast. Cereals with milk, orange juice, black tea and toast with marmelade (grape fruit) and Marmite (uh lá lá!).
I didn't sleep long because the sun was shining so bright in my room. But i get up at half past seven and then helped Judith with her breakfast. It was very different from the food I am used to but it was interesting!
After that we went to vote. J. made her crosses and I could see for whom she voted for. After that we went to a beautiful café. It was not so huge but really cosy. We sat down and drink coffee and tea. We talked to Bethan (which is a friend of J.) and stayed there for hours. Afterwards we went to the supermarket to buy some food and ingredients for our baking. How different the food habits are. We also bought some pork pasties. I tried them for the first time and I must say they were really tasty!
We went home to have lunch and after we cleaned up we went to see Loughborough. The city is beautiful with little stores but also bigger ones (New Look, Topshop, Boots,...)
And two days a week there is a food market. To our suprise it was today! (It's every Thursday and Saturday). We bought fresh fruits and vegetables and went to a pathway to walk for an hour.
Patch (her dog) was really delighted.
I learned new words: dandelion, rape, blue-bell, a lock, ...The sun came out and we (and especially Patch) had fun.

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
