Friday, my third day here

Today we went up at half past seven. The sun was shining in my room-as usual but i don't care about that. Went i went downstairs Judith was already cooking a meal for her son Nik and his wife. They will spend the weekend here with us. I asked her if I should prepare it and the answer was simply "yes". Me and Judith had breakfast and we enjoyed it very much. We talked about the plan for the day. We need to take Patch for a walk, after that help in the church (they make a coffe morning every friday for older people) and then bake another cake for tomorrow. Tomorrow will be a "cake day". It is called Christian Aid in the morning and many people here bake cakes or muffins and sell them in a good cause. I will help Judith with everything. I will take my first round alone with Patch in the park and afterwards help her and her friends with the selling in the church. The church is only 5 minutes away from our house so it wouldn't be a problem to come a little bit later. After talking about our plans we went outside for the morning walk. The sun was shining and it was beautiful outside. We walked for half an hour and later on we dressed for the coffee morning. There very many people. They all asked me who I am and what I am doing here in England. I introduced myself and get involved in many different conversations. It was a fabulous morning with a lot of new impressions. We went to a restaurant which was the direction of Nottingham. We had lunch there with friends from the chruch (Jeanette, Vory and others). Vory drove us back home and we put our walking shoes on and went again for a walk. It was raining again but I need to get used to rain here..;) And we walked a new route and came across horses and a duck. A really beautiful walk !
We came home and drove to the church to deliver our cakes. Judith baked 4 pies (!), four cakes with icing and muffins. I baked two chocolate cakes out of one dough. When we got home we watched a funny series on TV and now we are waiting for Nik and Helen. They will be here in around half an hour and I'm looking forward to it. We will have dinner together and I think it's going to be an interesting evening.

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
