Sunny and well-travelled August

The summer in England is just fabulous! When I am on my way to the park I can pick blackberries and I often sit outside and read good books. Everything is so much better when you can spend your time outside!

We are back home since friday evening. We had an unpleasant incident: One tyre of J.'s trailer tent was flat ! Somebody mentioned it when we stayed at the service station. So our journey back home was longer than expected. We started at half past 9 and where at home at half past 7 in the evening. But we were lucky that nothing happened!
J. went to a wedding at Cambridge on Saturday morning so I had a relaxing day at home. It was so nice to sleep in a real bed again. It was 25 degrees so I enjoyed the sun, read my book and went to the supermarket where I met Pam and Paul. In the afternoon I visited Margret. She is a very nice lady, she sits in a wheelchair and manages very well. We sat in the garden and talked about travelling and studying. She travelled a lot when she was younger with her husband and she still travels a lot. She knows England very very well so whenever I have a question about places (or even National Trust properties) I can ask her. I came home after some hours and looked for recipes. In less than one week we are going to Norwhich and I need to cook a meal at one night so I looked for quick and easy recipes. When I was searching for them I found other recipies as well which I wrote down in my book.

One of the best recipes I tried here in England is here for you. It's a lemon pudding and Jean (J.'s friend) made it once for us:

 Lemon pudding

step 2: beat egg yolks, combine with milk and beat it into the sugar mixture
step 3: Pour the mixture into a oven proof dish, place it in a roasting tin and surround it with hot water.
step 4: place it in the pre-heated oven (160°C) and bake it for 35 minutes.
ENJOY!

xxxxxxx

Today (sunday) I went to church. It was a special service because two children were baptized. They were called Amelia and Henry and they were so cute! It was a lively service and I enjoyed that. I stayed for biscuits and coffee and talked to a lot of people (I know I lot of people now).
Tomorrow morning I will be travelling by bus to Loughborough because I need a new ear-ring. I lost one on saturday evening... In the evening I'll meet Nicola. She's a secondry school teacher here in East Leake and she teaches German. She stayed one year in Germany and we arranged that she can speak German to me and I'll reply in English. We are meeting in the Nag's Head which is the pub across the road. That will be fun.
On Tuesday morning I will be off to London by train. I'm meeting Lea, Julia and Lulu there. We are staying in the Generator hostel in a four bed dorm. I stayed in that hostel when I was in London before so I know it's central and good.
All three of them have never been to England before so I think we will be doing the touristy things but that will be nice because London is always worth a visit!
So the next entry will probably about our stay in London.

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
