Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn

 Loch Earn

Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good.
My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The first night was really cold but the next ones were better. On their first training-day it was so windy, that the kids weren't allowed to go sailing. That was a pitty because they were really excited to practice. And the parents had paid for it. The second day was windy as well, but they were allowed to go sailing for 1 hour. The parents were really patient and waited for the whole day. Helen's friend has got a chalet near Loch Earn with a beautiful view on the lake. It was raining but still beautiful.

She invited us for a cup of tea. Helen said I should go and explore the area. Therefore I went walking on the 2nd day. Around the lake was a really nice walking pathway. I packed my backpack and went off. I've never been walking by myself but now I can recommend it! Go and try it by yourself. You always make a new and good experience.

I saw a really great statue in the middle of the Loch. I also went to a café which Helen and Nik had recommended. After the walk I returned to the Camping Side and could relax. We had wi-fi and I could write home and also write to my friends.
The weekend was a little bit longer because the kids had the monday off from school. They get supported by their school because they support their school in sailing events. Because they are not old enough to drive by themself their parents got the day off, too. And I was lucky; because I am always with them I had a lazy day as well.
Here are some impressions of Loch Earn. When you are in Scotland near Loch Earn you should go there and explore the area!

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
