 Scotland

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/1/10/Flag_of_Scotland.svg/1280px-Flag_of_Scotland.svg.pngThe journey from Nottinghamshire to Aberdeenshire took me 8 hours! But I really like it here. I was a little bit afraid of the dialect but it is not too hard! The people (especially the teachers in school and the family where I'm living tries to speak more english than scottish and it works out quite well! The area where I'm living is really rual. And I would say I'm used to rural areas because I'm also coming from a very peaceful are in Germany, but this is nothing in contrast to that! Here we are far away from any shop, grocery store or anything else! The next bus station is far away and I am reliant on my host-family. But they are so friendly and welcoming that I like it here. I have my own room and Wifi everywhere so that's really good.
I'm in school from 8-5 although the school is only from 9-3. But because I'm dependent on my host-mother/father I need to drive with them. They are both head-teachers so I am always the first at school. But you can get enough cofee, tea and biscuits there so that is alright then. (By the way; I think I'm getting addicted to tea and (very light) coffee :D )
The people here are really nice! I like the teacher at school a lot. After they spoke together in their dialect they ask me if I would understand something and often I cannot unterstand anything. But they know it and then everybody laughs because scotish people are famous for their dialect. But I must say, when you listen carefully it is not so difficult to understand because often it sounds similar to the "normal" english words.
After my first day I thought the kids would be shyer than the kids in Germany but after some time they get to know you better and they starting to trust you. So now I can say that they are not all shy they just need a little bit more time in general.
Kids with special needs are in the same class as other kids and sometimes it is very difficult for the teachers to hold classes which are helpful for every child but the teachers in the school are managing very well. The lessons are relaxed and there are seldom interruptions.
I am not allowed to make photos so I can't present you some pictures. Sorry for that!
On the weekend we are going sailing. The destination is 3-4 hours far away so it's going to be a longer journey but I've heard that the Westcoast is more beautiful than the Eastcoast in Scotland so I am anxious to experience the Westcoast on the weekend!
I hope the weather will be better than because now it's raining and the temperature is only 14 degrees.

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
