weekend trip to London

Hi everyone! I thought it would be nice to keep you all updated. While this weekend is more relaxed last weekend was busy and very exciting for me and two of my German friends, who came over to England to spend a weekend with me. We met on Friday in the evening and my train arrived in London at 1 o'clock. Therefore, I had time to check in into our hostel and to fresh up. Afterwards, I went to the Museum of London , which is an interactive Musuem which is close to St. Paul's Cathedral. The musuem is relatively new and it was really good. When I arrived they asked me if I would like to join a guided tour through the musuem which was called "Roman London". I thought "Why not?" and joined the tour. It was really interesting and the female tour guide told London's history in a very entertaining manner. I went outside afterwards and because I had a little more time I went into Topshop and lucky as I am I found a nice skirt and a pretty top. I just love T

Chatsworth and Yorkshire

Hi happy people! Another week went over and my weekend was filled with nice activities. I am really happy that I have every Friday off. That gives me and the other assistants the opportunity to plan nice day trips. Our last day trip is just over and we went to Chatsworth ! Marie, the French assistant has fairly the same interests as I have. This term we both wanted to visit Chatsworth in Derbyshire . She has already been to Chatsworth but I always wanted to go. When I stayed with J she always said she does not bother to go there again because she takes all her guests to Chatsworth and she was kind of fed up with paying the expensive entrance fee to get inside the house. But I know Chatsworth from various movies and it is the stately house where Pride and Prejudice or some scenes of "The Dutchess" were shot so it is really famous here in England. Every year they have a special Christmas decoration and this year the theme was Charles Dickens. He himself has be

Manchester

Hi everyone! My last week at work was really really busy. It was kind of unsatisfying because I had so much work and did not get any reward for it and therefore I was really looking forward to spending the weekend away with my sister who knows me very well! So I was very happy to meet her on Friday and I really enjoyed the weekend with my sister. We met in Manchester Picadilly which is like the main train station in Manchester and we spent the whole weekend in this beautiful city.  I was really suprised because some people had told me before that Manchester would be rather rough and not too nice. Others, especially young people said that Manchester is really cool and that I should really experience the Nightlife .  So me and my sister, we  were open to experience the city without any prejudices and in the end the city proved the opposite.  We really had a great time in Manchester!! We did not only visited the Christmas market (where we drank one mulled wine f

Half term

Good Morning everyone!  It is Friday, so this means I have my day off and enough time to write about my half term which was last week. I had eleven (!) whole days off which was just great. My journey started here in Gainsborough and I travelled with the Spanish assistant to Cardiff. Cardiff We went from here to London by train which was totally fine. But unfortunately, we booked a megabus to travel from London to Cardiff. Normally it would only take 3 hours but we had bad luck and some roads were closed so it took us 6 hours instead. So we arrived very late in Cardiff and went straight to bed. But Anna, my best friend from Germany, had already arrived in the airbnb and she could open us the door. On our first morning we planned what we all wanted to see. We wanted to go to the musuem which is called "History of Cardiff" first to get an overview about the city and it's history. We spent nearly the whole day in the musuem, enjoyed lunch at an Indian restaurant and e

3 weeks in school/ Daytrips

Hi everyone! Three busy weeks have just passed! It has been great working in the school! I really like working with Year 12 and 13. Some of the students are really talented and everyone tries really hard. My first sessions were "welcoming sessions" and now I am working with Year 12 on the History of Berlin and the Berlin Wall and with year 13 I am working on how to write essays. They watched the movie "Goodbye Lenin" and now they have to write essays about Idealism in the movie or the role of women within the movie. It is great fun and I am really happy to work with different kids. I also asked the drama teacher Mr R. if it would be possible to work with the rep theatre group on my drama project for university. He said I can do whatever I want and I am really excited to do that! My project will start just after half term. Because since today I have holidays;) We have one week and one more day to spend and to travel! My plans changed a little. Originally, I p

Being back is great! New challenges

-New challenges lie ahead-  I am back in England! Not in East Leake, the village I visited two years ago, but I am not too far away from there. This time I stay in a small town near Lincolnshire which is just one and a half our away from Judith! Last March I applied to work as a teaching assistant and I am really happy that I got the chance to come back to England and help secondary school children to improve their German. To get a place in a school in England I had to apply in a written manner and I had to pass an entrance test which was like an interview. They asked me several things about how I would teach German and about myself and prior journeys. Moreover, they questioned me about German politics and my general knowledge. I made it and I am ever so happy. Since June, I know the region I am now working in. I had a long journey coming by Eurostar from Brussels to London. Namely the journey was from London to Lincolnshire and it took me 10 (!!) hours to get to the family but
