3 weeks in school/ Daytrips

Hi everyone!

Three busy weeks have just passed! It has been great working in the school!
I really like working with Year 12 and 13. Some of the students are really talented and everyone tries really hard. My first sessions were "welcoming sessions" and now I am working with Year 12 on the History of Berlin and the Berlin Wall and with year 13 I am working on how to write essays. They watched the movie "Goodbye Lenin" and now they have to write essays about Idealism in the movie or the role of women within the movie. It is great fun and I am really happy to work with different kids.

I also asked the drama teacher Mr R. if it would be possible to work with the rep theatre group on my drama project for university. He said I can do whatever I want and I am really excited to do that! My project will start just after half term. Because since today I have holidays;)
We have one week and one more day to spend and to travel!
My plans changed a little. Originally, I planned to travel with the Spanish assistant but she just told me yesterday that she might travel back to Spain because she got an offer to work in a spanish High School. We plannned to spend 4 days in Cardiff, Wales and three more days in Bath. But yesterday she told me that she cannot come with me. So I changed my plans and I will meet my best friend from Germany, Anna, in Cardiff. We will stay 4 days there and then I booked a train to travel with her to London. I will stay in London for three days because she meets her boyfriend there and I can accompany the couple. They will stay in a hotel, so I booked a six-bed-room in a hostel but we will meet every day and do sightseeing together...:)
After that I will drive to Loughborough! And I will meet....JUDITH!
I am really excited. She just called me yesterday and asked me to come. I was so happy. I am really looking forward to meeting all the people which I got to know two years ago.
I will meet Bethan and Peter who already invited us for a dinner, and Maggie, Pam, Paul, Gill and all the others who are so lovely.
I am pretty sure I will enjoy my holidays. Today my journey starts and in about one and a half hour I will sit in a train to London. From London I will travel to  Cardiff so this evening I will sleep in Cardiff. I am really excited because I also wanted to explore Cardiff. Anna and my plans are to visit the Castle, the Rooftop Garden of this castle, to go to the National Museum and explore the secret gardens of St. Fagans and the Bay.

I will take many photos and write about our journey.

By the way, I have already been to Lincoln and Sheffield.
Lincoln has a very beautiful old town and a castle, which we visited. We had a nice lunch in an English restaurant and enjoyed my favourite ice-cream which is salted caramel! It was my second time in Lincoln but because it is very close the the village I live in I will definitely go again!
We wandered around nice book shops and just enjoyed our day off.

Moreover, last weekend Marie, the French girl, and me went to Sheffield. Sheffield is famous because it gained an international reputation for its steel production. Because there was a big collapse of the steel industry in the 1970s and 80s, a big decline happed and Sheffield was known as a city which was rather run down. But luckily Sheffield has seen a redevelopment in the 21st century. Today the city is modern and has many green areas and a big university with a very good reputation. I was really impressed by the city's atmosphere.
We visited the cathedral and listened to an organ recital, went to the Millenium Gallery and the Industrial Museum. Moreover, we enjoyed nice coffee and tea in a small café and all in all, it was just a great day in Sheffield! In the evening we went to a pub in Gainsborough and enjoyed our first pub crawl!:D He had so much fun.
Here are some impressions of our day in Sheffield and one of us in the pub:

Now I need to finish packing my case for the trip to Cardiff, London and Loughborough!

I will keep you updated. Have a nice time!

Lots of Love xxx

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The ...

Inchcolm Abbey and the Royal Gallery

A lonely island next to the city centre- Inchcolm   This Saturday we took the ferry and went to Inchcolm Abbey. It's a beautfiul island in the Firth of Forth in Scotland. From Edinburgh we drove only 15 minutes to get the ferry and it cost 16 pounds to get to the island and back. Your first thought is that "Wow. This is quit expensive", but it was really worth going on the island! The tour was guided so the speaker told us a lot about the history of the 2 finished bridges and the one which is still in progress at the moment. It was really interesting to hear all about the bridges the railway bridge is for example now Scotland's sixth world heritage site. Then we arrived at the island which is cared for by Historic Scotland. On the island there is an abbey from the 12th century which was built by King David the First. The abbey and it's grounds are fully open to the public and it was so nice to wander around. There are a lot of birds on the island. It...

First Day

Start of my journey- Everything new My journey started on 6th May. I travelled by Eurostar to Bruxelles and from there straight to Loughborough. We came to Bruxelles and it was very busy there. Many people were running in different directions. My parents and me had enough time to spend some at a Häagen Dazs Café-quite expensive! But after a coffee americano/ cappuccino and some delicious Häagen Dazs ice-cream(banana/caramel i had to say "Goodbye". It was a sad situation and me and my mother cried (only a little bit!) before I was totally on my own. I managed the tour to London St. Pancras and from threre I had only 30 minutes to catch the East Midlands train to Loughborough. There were some trouble so I arrived 25 minutes later than I planned. But everything turned out fine. Judith catched me up and we drove home to East Leake. A little village with a supermarket, a pub, a butcher, some cafés, a vet, more churches and so on and so forth. She cooked me a perfect meal with...
