My third week in Scotland

Another exciting week is over now ! On Tuesday evening we shore the sheep. It was really exciting because I never done anything similar before. They were so stubborn and they did not like it so much but afterwards they looked so much better and I’m sure it’s for their best. It took us more than two hours to shear three sheep. What an evening. I think I’ll never forget this adventure.  Shaun the sheep This weekend was absolutely lovely! It was the first weekend without any sailing and I enjoyed the “free days” a lot. H.‘s parents came to visit us. They arrived on Thursday evening and we had a lovely dinner. For a starter we had salmon bruscetta, for dinner steak pie with potatoes and veggies and for desert we had home-made shortbread and cake. So it was a typical Scottish dinner but H.’s parents don’t like any foreign food. They only like Scottish food (but that’s okay for everybody). H’s parents were so nice and friendly! We had a chatty evening with a lot of laughte

My last week- busy internship

Tada! I am back again. Sorry for letting you wait but I (or rather my host-family) was so busy last week that I was always tired after a long working day. But today I have time to write a resumé about my last week. I am glad that I can go to several schools around the area. I was in a secondry school for the first time. Helen managed that I was allowed to meet the language teacher of Mintlaw Academy. He is called Eric. He speaks several languages and teaches German and French. He loves Germany! He lived in Germany for some years and organises a school trip to Germany every year. They always visit "Phantasialand", the city Trier and they go to Luxembourg as well. He was really open and nice and I was allowed to shadow his three language teachers: Laura, Karen and Vincent. I watched them teaching and I helped Karen and Laura. They were both happy to have a native speaker in their class and so I read texts or told them how to pronunce several words. I also talked to the pupil

Loch Earn- Camping for Sailing

Our weekend at Loch Earn   Loch Earn Now I am already 1 month away from home. How the time rushes! I am happy to make all these experiences. We went camping to "Loch Earn" which is a lake. In Scotland one calls a lake a "loch". The English people have difficulties to pronunce that word, but for Scotish people and German it is easy. The kids sailed and therefore we camped all together there. I must admit: This was my first real camping experience. Since then I only camped at festivals like "Rock am Ring". The proper camping is more luxurious than our party-camping. I had a thick, comfy blowing-up matress and also a cushion(!). We had warm showers with seperate cabins and we had enough electricity. That was really good. My host family are camping-experts so they bought everything we need for cooking, drinking, etc. At our first day it was so windy. We managed to build our tents up and as soon as we were inside it started to rain! What a luck! The

Scotland

Scotland The journey from Nottinghamshire to Aberdeenshire took me 8 hours! But I really like it here. I was a little bit afraid of the dialect but it is not too hard! The people (especially the teachers in school and the family where I'm living tries to speak more english than scottish and it works out quite well! The area where I'm living is really rual. And I would say I'm used to rural areas because I'm also coming from a very peaceful are in Germany, but this is nothing in contrast to that! Here we are far away from any shop, grocery store or anything else! The next bus station is far away and I am reliant on my host-family. But they are so friendly and welcoming that I like it here. I have my own room and Wifi everywhere so that's really good. I'm in school from 8-5 although the school is only from 9-3. But because I'm dependent on my host-mother/father I need to drive with them. They are both head-teachers so I am always the first at school.
